Public Hearing Notice

Red Wing 2040 has a bold goal for our future: to be the most healthy, vibrant town in the Midwest – economically, socially, physically, and mentally. The Red Wing 2040 Community Plan is a plan for and by the people who live and work here, and it will become our roadmap to guide us into the future. More than 2,500 people played a role in the plan, and roughly 200 residents have followed the process from beginning to end as Action Team participants.

This plan has been developed around five key principles that have been interwoven throughout the plan: Sustainability, Health, Accessibility, Resiliency, and Equity. Evidence shows that thriving communities SHARE these characteristics. The Community Plan is organized around these elements: Overview and Background – includes an introduction and background about the community and the community engagement process that was used to develop the plan; Framework Plans – involving the environment and land use; System Plans – includes utilities; how we get around (transportation) and parks and recreation; Action Plans – includes housing, the economy, arts and culture, physical and mental health, community connections and accessible leadership, public safety, and lifelong learning; and achieving the vision – the final implementation chapter. There is also an online Red Wing 2040 Document Library that provides a ready resource of foundation documents that residents can use to learn more about the community and background plans.

The Final Draft of the Red Wing 2040 Community Plan may be viewed on the City Website at this link: http://www.red-wing.org/354/Red-Wing-2040 or copies may be obtained by contacting Brian C. Peterson AICP, Special Project Manager at Brian.Peterson@ci.red-wing.mn.us or by calling 651.385.3617. A copy of the Red Wing 2040 Community Plan may also be viewed at Red Wing City Hall, 315 West Fourth Street, or at the Red Wing Public Library, 225 East Avenue.

Written or oral comments to Red Wing 2040 Community Plan may be presented at this public hearing or filed with the City Clerk prior to this hearing. Each response will be duly considered and evaluated before any formal action is taken by the Planning Commission.
