Levee Park and Riverfront Trail Closure

(January 22, 2019, Red Wing, Minn.) – The City of Red Wing would like to notify the public that as of January 19, crews began mobilization for the Levee Park Dockage and Vogel Harbor Improvement projects. The construction start date has been set for January 28, 2019.  The projects will require the closure of the Riverfront Trail between Levee Park and Vogel Harbor during construction activities in that area.  In addition, project activities in Levee Park will require the closure of Levee Park and the Levee Park vehicle parking lot.  Barricades will be in place.

The projects will include sheet piling from Vogel Harbor to Red Wing Grain. In February, work will begin on the storm sewer and water main replacement in Levee Park followed by sheet piling work.

Please be aware that weather delays, excessive river flooding and unforeseen conditions may affect the scheduled work. The project is expected to be substantially complete by August 2, 2019, with the work fully completed on or before September 6, 2019.

We appreciate the cooperation and patience of neighbors, drivers, and pedestrians during this time of inconvenience. Motorists are encouraged to stay alert and drive carefully through all work zones and riverfront pedestrians are asked to avoid the construction work areas during the project for the foreseeable future. Thank you in advance for your patience.
