(June 22, 2023, Red Wing, Minn.) – On June 22, the Red Wing Police Department received a report of a sound of a gunshot in the vicinity of the Twin Bluff neighborhood, but nothing was found with subsequent investigation.

At 11:06 a.m., the Red Wing Police Department received a call regarding a possible gunshot heard in the area of Pioneer Road and Twin Bluff Road in Red Wing. The caller believed the noise was too close to their location to have originated from the Red Wing Gun Club, which is also located in that area of the city.

Officers arrived in the area but saw or heard nothing further. No other calls were received from citizens. Officers spoke with multiple residents in the area, who reported hearing one possible gunshot in the area earlier, but nothing since. Officers remained in the area for some time but saw or heard nothing further and cleared the scene after approximately 20 minutes.

There is no known threat to the community at this time, and it is unknown where the possible gunshot might have originated. A social media post referring to a shooting at Twin Bluff Middle School briefly circulated following the report of a possible gunshot. That post was inaccurate and has since been removed.

The City of Red Wing is dedicated to creating a sustainable, healthy, accessible, resilient, and equitable community where every person feels at home.
