(June, 3, 2023, Red Wing, Minn.) – Today at 7:16 a.m., the Red Wing Fire Department received a call reporting a fire alarm activation at a business in the 100 block of Lagrange Street, Red Wing.
Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke and ungraded the alarm to a structure fire response. Firefighters were on the scene within one minute of receiving the call. Firefighters found smoldering material in the processing of the plant. Initial activities included searching the area and Firefighters worked with the staff to isolate the processing line and to ensure there was no fire spreading to the rest of the plant.
Apparatus used on the scene included two fire engines, two ladder trucks, two ambulances, one chief officer, and two utility vehicles. A total of 40 firefighters worked at the scene for approximately two hours. Red Wing was assisted on scene by Ellsworth with a ladder truck. Miesville Fire Department provided station coverage with a fire engine and Ellsworth Ambulance provide medical coverage with an ambulance. Goodhue County Sheriffs Dispatch, as well as Red Wing Police, assisted.
Red Wing Fire Department units were already engaged in one emergency medical call at the time of dispatch for this incident.
