Severe Weather Awareness Week is April 17-21. The Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) Division of the Minnesota Department of Public and the National Weather Service collaborate to educate and inform about the potential for severe weather in Minnesota and how you can be prepared for it. Each day of the week focuses on different topics. Two statewide tornado drills will also be conducted on Thursday, April 20, at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Daily topics are as follows. - Tuesday: Severe Weather, Lightning and Hail
- Wednesday: Floods
- Thursday: Tornadoes (with statewide tornado drills)
- Friday: Extreme Heat
