[ARCHIVED] Red Wing Fire Department Responds to a Boat Stuck in the Roller Gates at Lock and Dam #3

(June 17, Welch, Minn.) – At 6:20 p.m. the Red Wing Fire Department was dispatched for a boat stuck in the roller gates at Lock and Dam #3 on the Mississippi River with five people on board. RWFD responded with Marine 1, one ambulance, and seven firefighter/paramedics.

RWFD units arrived at the stranded vessel within 22 minutes and worked to safely tow the stranded vessel away from the roller gates and out of danger. All passengers on the vessel were accounted for and not injured. RWFD was assisted by L&D#3 staff, GCSO, RWPD, and PIPD.
