(April 12, 2022, Red Wing, Minn.) – On 04/12/22 at approximately 2:07 am, the Red Wing Police Department responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the 500 block of Maple Street in Red Wing. The caller reported a female was "bleeding badly." The Red Wing Fire Department was dispatched to the scene.
Officers were familiar with the parties involved. While responding to the scene, a Red Wing officer observed the male suspect in a vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. After a brief pursuit, officers terminated the chase for safety concerns, and the suspect's whereabouts are currently unknown.
Officers located the female victim at the scene and provided emergency medical aid. The victim provided information about the incident to officers at the scene, which led officers to believe the victim had been stabbed one time in the chest by the assailant.
Red Wing Ambulance transported the victim to Red Wing Mayo Hospital for medical care and was later airlifted to another medical facility for follow-up care. There is no update on the condition of the victim at this time.
The investigation into this case is ongoing. Due to the relationship between the suspect and victim, we do not believe the suspect poses a safety risk to the general public.
The Red Wing Fire Department assisted the Red Wing Police Department. The Goodhue County Sheriff's Office assisted with handling calls for service within the city while Red Wing Officers investigated this call.
