[ARCHIVED] Red Wing Fire Department Responds to Kitchen Fire

(February 19, 2022, Red Wing, Minn.) – On Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 9:40 a.m., the Red Wing Fire Department received a call reporting a possible kitchen fire in the 2100 Block of Pioneer Road, Red Wing.

Firefighter/paramedics were on the scene within six minutes of receiving the call. The fire was extinguished prior to arrival. The primary search of structure was completed. There were no injuries reported. 

There was fire damage confined to the kitchen area. There is, however, minor smoke damage to kitchen area. The occupant is able to remain in their residence. 

Initial activities included searching the building and checking for extension. 

Apparatus used on the scene included two fire engines, one ambulance, and one chief officer. A total of eight firefighters worked at the scene for less than one hour. Thirteen firefighters staffed the fire station. Red Wing Fire Department was assisted by the Red Wing Police Department and Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office Dispatchers. 

With no injuries and limited fire damage, we are pleased with the results and quick action by the occupant. 

The cause of the fire, which originated in the kitchen, is under investigation.
