[ARCHIVED] Red Wing Fire Department Responds to Boat Fire in Storage Yard

(September 9, 2021, Red Wing, Minn.) – On September 9 at 00:12 a.m., the Red Wing Fire Department received a call reporting a fire in the woods near Ole Miss Marina Boat Storage Yard.

Firefighters were on the scene within 4 minutes of receiving the call and found multiple boats on fire. The fire was extinguished approximately one hour after arrival. There were no injuries. There was significant fire damage to three boats. There is also damage to two adjacent wave runners and one boat trailer. Initial activities included preventing further damage to nearby boats as well as extinguishing the fire. There were four other calls for service during the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

Apparatus used on the scene included 2 fire engines, 3 ambulances, and 1 chief officer. A total of 16 firefighters worked at the scene for more than 3 hours. Ellsworth Fire Department, Red Wing Public Works, Red Wing Police Department, and Goodhue County Sheriff’s Dispatcher’s assisted the Red Wing Fire Department on scene. Lake City Fire Department and Hastings Ambulance provided station coverage.
