Old West Main Street Update:

The contractor was successful in completing the first two lifts of bituminous paving on Old West Main, including the intersection tie backs at Jefferson and Buchanan and the parking lot patching at Bauer Built this week. The intent is to open the roadway as soon as the concrete pavement has sufficient strength and tentatively could be by end of the day today. The plan is to test the strength of the concrete pavement this afternoon that was poured earlier in the week and goal will be to open roadway to the greatest extent possible based on the test results.

There is anticipated to be three possible scenarios of roadway opening:

  • Scenario 1 – all concrete has sufficient strength and Old West Main is fully reopened, including access to all side streets
  • Scenario 2 – regular concrete on Old West Main is reopened but colored concrete within the intersection of Jefferson is still closed
  • Scenario 3 – concrete tests understrength and no changes to traffic control are made

All remaining concrete work on Old West Main is anticipated to be completed by end of next week. Alley improvements and closure of Jackson Street are tentatively planned to start the week of the September 12. Landscape plantings are planned to be completed mid-September. Also, continued advancement of roadway lighting, entry monuments, and kiosk are expected throughout September as well
