Old West Main Street Update:
The contractor anticipates being completed with all utility work within the Jefferson Street intersection this week. The contractor is waiting on a successful watermain bacteria test and then all that is remaining within the intersection is completion of one water service and two storm sewer catch basins on the west side. The contractor started grading for the new roadway today and anticipates completion of the installation of the new sand and aggregate base early next week, allowing for the start of concrete work. It is anticipated that the contractor would complete the new concrete curb and gutter through the intersection first, followed by the new concrete pavement, and ending with the new concrete sidewalk. The contractor started pouring the new sidewalk along the north side between Jefferson and Washington Street today and goal is to have a continuous sidewalk completed no later than end of the week. Additionally, the contractor started the pavement removal heading towards the intersection of Buchanan Street today. Immediately following the removals, the contractor plans to focus on the new underground utilities heading west from Jefferson to Buchanan Street, starting with the sanitary sewer, followed by the watermain, and ending with the storm sewer. It is anticipated that the utilities will take 2-3 weeks to complete along this block.
