Old West Main Street Update:
The contractor was successful in testing of the temporary water system this week and is actively working on getting all the required houses hooked up to temporary water. The contractor is making progress on the new storm sewer within Old West Main between Washington and Jefferson Street and anticipates having all the utility work completed up to the east side of Jefferson Street by the end of next week. Starting next week Tuesday, the contractor plans to close the intersection of Jefferson Street to begin pavement removals. The roadway closure will be just the intersection at this time and is not anticipated to extend down Old West Main heading towards Buchanan Street. The closure of the rest of Old West Main to the west is at least another full week out, and an update will be provided as part of next week’s newsletter. Following completion of the utility work between Washington and Jefferson, the vontractor plans to start building the new roadway, starting with the excavation for the new sand and aggregate base. The roadway work will be completed by a second crew and is anticipated to start at Washington Street and work towards the west. We wish everyone a safe Memorial Day weekend
