Red Wing Riverview Skyway "Pedestrian Bridge" Update:
The pedestrian bridge is planned to remain open throughout construction of Old West Main Street this summer. The bridge will serve as a consistent means of access to Old West Main Street during construction and only expected to close during the permanent plaza construction connecting the bridge to Old West Main anticipated to be completed mid-summer.
Old West Main Street Update:
The contractor successfully started construction this week on Stage 2. This first week was focused on pavement removal and the installation of the new sanitary sewer starting from Washington Street. Within the next day or two the contractor anticipates setting the new manhole approximately mid-block between Jefferson and Washington streets. After setting the new manhole, the contractor anticipates continuing to work east to west in the following order:
- Installation of the new watermain within the Washington Street intersection. After installation of watermain with the intersection, the goal would be to reopen the intersection under gravel surfacing.
- Installation of new sanitary sewer continuing from the mid-block manhole to the east side of Jefferson Street
- Installation of new watermain continuing from the west side of Washington Street to the east side of Jefferson Street
All detour signing is in place and revisions are in process based on feedback from area businesses.
