Newsletter Number 29

Pedestrian Bridge Update:

The pedestrian bridge is open and will remain open throughout the winter. This past week City Council approved public works to perform winter maintenance to keep the bridge and trail open year-round. The Council also dedicated a new name for the bridge – the Red Wing Riverview Skyway. The final bridge plaza and permanent connection to Old West Main will be completed next year as part of the street reconstruction project.

Old West Main Street Update:

The roadway was permanently reopened on Tuesday this week. No major work is anticipated to be completed again until next spring at which time the contractor would resume utility construction starting at Washington Street and continue heading west. The electrical contractor still plans to install the new light poles once they become available at some point this winter. All remaining construction (trees, benches, bollards, etc.) is planned to be completed under traffic next summer as part of the subsequent stages 2-4. This is planned to be the final newsletter for the year. Additional weekly updates will be provided ahead of resumed construction next spring for the final three stages of construction anticipated for final completion in August 2022.
