Pedestrian Bridge Update:
The bituminous trail connection at the south abutment was completed by City forces this week. The final two sections of ornamental railing are planned to be installed today, allowing the bridge to be officially opened for the weekend. The last two remaining items of work are the small amount of seeding on the north side of the tracks and the energizing of the bridge lighting, which both are expected to be completed next week.
Old West Main Street Update:
The contractor anticipates completing the installation of the aggregate base with Stage 1 today. The plan is for the concrete contractor to mobilize onsite first thing Monday to start the curb and gutter for the full two blocks of Old West Main from Washington to Ace Hardware. The new concrete curb and gutter is anticipated to take 2-3 days and will be immediately followed by the paving of the new concrete roadway. The concrete contractor is estimating two weeks to finish the concrete roadway and goal would be to start on the new concrete sidewalk by end of the week of October 18th. The completion of the concrete sidewalk is expected to carry into early November. The completion of the south side of Jackson Street is on track to be completed with the rest of the work on Old West Main, however the completion of the north side of Jackson Street is unknown. We are working hard on getting approval from CP for the new watermain crossing and understand that completion of the RR crossing, yet this year is likely the best-case scenario. The final concrete paving will likely have to wait until next summer. In either scenario, Jackson Street will be reopened for the winter utilizing temporary bituminous pavement as necessary.
