Newsletter Number 14

Pedestrian Bridge Update:

The Contractor is currently working on backfilling the retaining walls at the south abutment and hopes to have this work completed by early next week. The railing installation, bridge plaza final grading and temp paving will be completed after the truss bridge is set and towards the end of the project in September. Based on this there is not anticipated to be any more specific updates regarding the south abutment.
The Contractor successfully completed the pouring of the concrete deck for Spans 2 and 3 yesterday. While the deck concrete is curing, the Contractor plans to continue with the forming and pouring of the curb and the concrete pilasters located along both sides for Spans 2 and 3. The truss bridge is scheduled to be delivered on August 10th and 11th, assembly will take place the rest of that week, and is scheduled to be set over the RR tracks on August 16th. The project overall is on schedule for completion by end of September 2021.

Old West Main Street Update:

The Contractor plans to have the new watermain installed through Jackson Street by end of the day today (July 30). This will allow the watermain testing to begin early next week and if testing goes as expected, the Contractor should be able to complete the services between Jackson and the east project limits late next week. The Contractor was able to confirm that the storm sewer materials will not be delivered until the week of August 9th, thus the Contractor plans to continue with the new sanitary sewer heading west from Jackson Street starting next week. The Contractor plans to complete the roadway removals between Washington and Jackson is two phases, with the first phase resulting in the barricades being placed approximately at the east building line of Bimbo Bakeries. It is anticipated that the Contractor could be to Washington Street with the new sanitary sewer by end of next week.
