Public Works Department

(September 25, 2018, Red Wing, Minn.) – The City of Red Wing Public Works Department would like to inform you that there will be no parking on either side of East Avenue between West 5th and West 6th Streets beginning Wednesday, September 26th.  Parking will also be restricted on West 5th Street between East Avenue and Bush Street.

The intersection of West 5th Street and East Avenue will be closed with the exception of the eastbound traffic which will be able to turn onto West 5th Street from East Avenue.

The closure is necessary to allow for repairs to the storm tunnel located below the street.

The restrictions will begin at approximately 7:00 a.m. on September 26th and remain in place until approximately October 5th, weather dependent.

Parking will again be allowed and the intersection reopened as soon as the work is completed. Traffic control will be in place and drivers are encouraged to avoid this area.

City crews and our Contractors appreciate the cooperation and patience of neighbors, drivers, and pedestrian during this inconvenience.  Motorists are encouraged to stay alert and drive carefully through all work zones and to use alternate routes whenever possible.  Thank you in advance for your patience.
