Pedestrian Bridge Update:

The Contractor has successfully completed the first pour of the vertical bridge columns for Piers 1 and 2. A decorative limestone pattern was incorporated for this bottom pour and can now be seen. The exposed concrete still needs to be colored, but the vertical elements of the bridge are starting to take shape. The Contractor will be continuing to work on the vertical piers and pier caps over the next few weeks. The construction of the soil embankment was completed this week. The fill area now sits, and settlement of the underlying soils are monitored daily for a period of 60-days. Once the stability of the underlying soils is confirmed based on the measured settlement, the construction of the bridge north abutment and paved trail connection can be completed. Private utility relocations along the area of the removed building are planned to begin this coming week and anticipated to be completed by end of April. Immediately following these relocations, the construction of the bridge south abutment and plaza retaining walls will begin.

Old West Main Street Update

The open house to discuss construction timing was successfully held this week. Given the feedback received to date, the recommendation to City Council on Monday, April 12 will be to proceed with a two-year construction project as presented at the open house. In this scenario, construction would start on the east half (Stage 1) of Old West Main St. from Washington Street to Highway 61/Main Street in late July and be completed in fall 2021. The west half (Stage 2) of Old West Main St. from Buchanan Street to Washington Street would start in spring 2022 and be completed in late summer 2022. Residents and business owners are encouraged to reach out to any of the below contacts or City Council directly if they have interest in the construction timing recommendation.
