He Mni Can–Barn Bluff Regional Park

South Trail Temporary Detour Scheduled for July 27, 2020

The South Trail at He Mni Can–Barn Bluff Regional Park will be partially closed to visitors beginning on Monday, July 27, 2020, for the restoration of the East Kiwanis Stairway at E. Fifth Street.  A temporary detour will allow visitors to access the south trail from E. Fifth Street approximately 150 feet south of the East Kiwanis Stairway.  It is estimated that the stairway restoration will take three weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Direct access to the Quarry Trail and North Trail at the top of the East Kiwanis Stairway will also be restricted the week of July 27, 2020.

Visitors are asked to avoid the work area and to obey all on-site notices and barriers.

This project is a component of the Phase 1 He Mni Can–Barn Bluff Regional Park improvements.  This project involves the creation of a new entrance plaza, parking lot, and pedestrian safety improvements adjacent to E. Fifth Street and includes the restoration and improvement of the park’s trail system.  Funding for these improvements has been made possible by a Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission Legacy Grant, the Evelyn Sweasy Charitable Trust Fund, the City of Red Wing, and the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant.

Thank you for your patience during the improvements.
