Levee Park Dock Project Update

On Monday, April 27, the City of Red Wing’s contractor for the Levee Park Dock project, Meyer Contracting, Inc. was able to restart work on the Park as Mississippi River levels continue to recede.  Construction projects for public works infrastructure are deemed essential and are exempt from the Governor’s Stay at Home Executive Order.

Barring any future unforeseen conditions, the contractor will be finishing all the major parts of the project by June 30.  The major work that remains includes: pouring concrete for the promenade area and roadway; pouring concrete sidewalks/steps; second lift of asphalt pavement for Ikata Drive; installing railings and benches; landscaping; and the restoration of the Levee Park pathway, which has been used as a haul road to the bridge project during construction.

The Riverfront Trail from Vogel Harbor to Levee Park should also be open by the end of June.

In July, we expect the contractor will be completing the landscaping, pavement markings, and architectural finishes. The final completion target date is July 31, 2020.

Please remember that Levee Park is a construction site and remains closed throughout the renovation process.  We ask for your patience and request that people refrain from entering the construction zone due to possible dangerous conditions.
