(April 27, 2020, Red Wing, Minn.) – The City of Red Wing would like to inform the public that the following notification has been received from Xcel Energy:
Xcel Energy Gas Main Replacement Project
Road Closure:
On Wednesday April 29, W Maple Avenue will be need to be closed at Featherstone Road for work to be completed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Residents are asked to please follow posted detour signs for the duration of this closure. W Maple Avenue will reopen to regular traffic at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29.
Xcel Energy, and its contractor Q3C, has begun work on two natural gas replacement projects in the areas of the Woodland Hills and Birchwood Village additions. The areas to receive the gas replacements are Maple Street W, Woodland Drive, Ridgewood Lane, Birchwood Drive, Poplar Drive, Red Oak Avenue, Willow Drive, Sumac Drive, and Spruce Drive. These projects will involve replacing natural gas main and services that run under the boulevard or sidewalk to homes.
Some residents will be notified that the sidewalk panels crossing in their driveway will be removed to accommodate installation of the new natural gas main. These residents will be contacted by the site Foreman and notified which date this work will take place. Vehicles will need to be moved to available parking on the opposite side of the street during the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on the notified date.
The area where sidewalk panels are removed will be backfilled with class 5 gravel to allow residents to gain access to their driveways and garages by 3:00 p.m. on the selected date(s). Any driveway sidewalk panel that is removed as part of this project will be replaced with any additional hard surface restoration that is needed at the close of the project.
