Red Wing Firefighters respond to Kwik Trip for possible structure fire
(04/20/2020, Red Wing, Minn.) – On April 19, 2020, at 22:56, the Red Wing Fire Department received a call reporting a possible structure fire at 300 block of West 7th Street. Firefighter/paramedics were on the scene within four minutes of receiving the call. A small fire was found on the outside of the building on the west side. The contents of the fire were crates used for soft drink packaging. The fire was extinguished approximately five minutes after arrival. There were no injuries. There was moderate fire damage to the brick, doorway, and soffit. Due to the location of the fire near a doorway, there was smoke to be found in the building which was ventilated using a fan and positive pressure techniques. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture was contacted and utilized in reopening the store for business. Apparatus used on the scene included 3 fire engines, 1 ladder truck, 2 ambulances, and 1 Chief Officer. A total of 20 firefighters worked at the scene for an hour. Red Wing Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Red Wing Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol. Ellsworth Ambulance filled in at Station 1. Goodhue County Sheriffs Dispatch center assisted via the radio. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
