(April 2, 2020, Red Wing, Minn.) – The City of Red Wing would like to inform the public that the following notification has been received from Xcel Energy:

Xcel Energy Utility Pole Replacement Project

Xcel Energy will be replacing over 350 rotten electrical poles along various roads east of Bench Street throughout the City of Red Wing and the surrounding area. The poles will be replaced in kind, directly adjacent to the existing pole or slightly offset as dictated by other facilities in the area. Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 6, 2020, and is planned to be complete by early summer. Michels, the contractor performing the work, will have up to six crews working at the same time to get this done efficiently and quickly, with as little disturbance to the customer as possible. Minimal line clearances for vegetation may be required as some lines have become overgrown. This is to accommodate safe replacement of the poles as well as to ensure reliability in the future. Most poles should have all the facilities transferred (i.e. phone, cable, etc.) in a timely manner after the poles have been replaced or as they are being replaced.

Project Contact: Jason Baxter, Xcel Energy

We appreciate the cooperation and patience of neighbors, drivers, and pedestrians during this time of inconvenience. Motorists are encouraged to stay alert and drive carefully through all work zones. Thank you in advance for your patience!
