Projected Flooding Impact for Red Wing


(April 7, 2020, Red Wing, Minn.) - Flooding is expected along the Mississippi River in Red Wing in the coming week. Area officials are working together to anticipate, plan for, and respond to flooding events to minimize the impacts for local businesses and residents. The City will share new information as it becomes available to keep the public informed of flood-related events.

The Impact to Streets and Parks Expected through the Week 
• Access to the public boat launch at Frazier Street is closed 
• Colvill Park and boat ramp are closed and will remain closed for at least a week. 
• Levee Road West of the roundabout to Pottery Pond will remain open. 
• Bay Point Park and Boat Ramp will remain open. Only the east end of the park will be closed near the flag pole. 
• East Fifth Street at Barn Bluff is open. 

Current Water Levels
As of 9 am on Monday, April 6, the water level in Red Wing is 13.03 ft., and into the “action” stage, where flooding has some impact to traffic and properties along the river. Water levels are expected to rise throughout the week, and are expected to crest at 13.3 ft., by Sunday April 12.
