For Immediate Release

Short-term daytime traffic delays expected Sept. 30-Oct. 4 during culvert installation at Red Wing Bridge

RED WING, Minn. — Motorists using the Red Wing Bridge between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. next week will experience traffic delays, while construction crews install a box culvert on Highway 63 on the Wisconsin side of the bridge, according to MnDOT and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

During the work, motorists will have approximate 10-minute delays while equipment is present and installing the sections of the culvert at Highway 63 in Wisconsin where motorists approach the bridge.

Motorists should adjust travel plans for the scheduled delays during the week by either leaving earlier for their destinations or planning to arrive later. The work is expected to run from Monday-Friday.

The Highway 63 Bridge project includes building a new bridge to replace the Highway 63 Bridge, replacing the historic slip ramp Highway 63 Bridge over Highway 61, reconstructing approach roadways in Minnesota and Wisconsin, improving access to Red Wing and upgrading pedestrian and bicyclist crossings. Zenith Tech, Inc., is the prime contractor on the $63.4 million construction project. Traffic on the new bridge is expected by fall 2019.

Learn more about the project or sign up for email updates at MnDOT’s project web site. You can also follow their Facebook page for this project.

Motorists should always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones. For real-time traffic information in Minnesota, call 511 or visit
