Red Wing High School student Carolyn Hanson’s artwork is about to go on tour across the country. Every year, Sister Cities International hosts a Young Artists and Authors Showcase (YAAS), using art to “transform societies and transcend cultural boundaries.” In Red Wing, our Sister Cities Commission works with the high school so our students can participate in this national contest. This year’s theme was “Global Citizens: Resilient Communities.” Of the three local winners chosen by the Sister Cities Commission, Carolyn’s piece was also selected as a finalist by Sister Cities International. Her artwork will be displayed in Sister Cities alongside that of other finalists from all across the country on a year-long tour. Huge congratulations to Carolyn on her accomplishment and thank you to our Sister Cities Commission for working to make Red Wing a more global community.
