[ARCHIVED] Construction Updates - Week of August 12, 2019

2018 Street Reconstruction Update

Curb was poured today on McSorley Street as well as the sidewalk along Bush Street from Eighth to Ninth Streets. The concrete crew will be working on pouring driveway aprons and sidewalks on McSorley Street on Saturday and Monday as well. For McSorley Street residents, please do not drive into your driveways for about a week to allow for the concrete to gain enough strength to handle vehicle traffic. The concrete will be strong enough to support foot traffic about 4 hours after it is poured.

Not much work will be undertaken on the project next week due to needing to let the new concrete set up and gain strength. Final grading on McSorley Street will begin late next week. As of right now, there is not a definite time for paving work to begin on McSorley Street, but we are anticipating either late next week or early the week after for the first later of pavement on McSorley Street. We are also working on trying to nail down a date for paving in the patches on Seventh Street.

Thanks for your patience as we enter the final stretch of this project.

Maple Street Update

We are working on finishing up work on the pedestrian ramps on the north side of Maple Street. We are anticipating finishing up the sidewalk construction on the north side on Monday with the blacktop patching along the curbs happening toward the end of next week (Aug. 19-23).

Milling and paving work is not officially scheduled yet, but these operations will likely occur during the week of August 26.

Seventh Street Update

Work is continuing on the Seventh Street portion of the 2019 Mill & Overlay Project. The contractor has been pouring pedestrian ramps this week on the south side of the street, and the last ramps on the south side will be finished early next week. Work will switch over to the north side of the street next week. Blacktop patching and milling and paving operations are currently scheduled for the week of August 26.

Just an FYI: our project at Seventh Street and McSorley Street will also involve patching Seventh Street which is tentatively scheduled for August 26. Traffic on Seventh Street will be detoured onto Potter Street and Sixth Street during the patching work at McSorley Street.

Guernsey/Goodhue/Eagle Ridge

(Aug. 21, 2019) A quick update for the work in the area of the high school: the contractor is patching up the end of Goodhue Street today, milling work is scheduled for tomorrow, and paving is scheduled for Saturday. All streets will remain open during this work; however, we appreciate your patience as there will be times that traffic will need to wait a few minutes for equipment to go by a driveway that you may need to access. Flaggers will be directing traffic around the milling and paving operations, so please use caution while driving in these areas for the safety of everyone!

West and East Avenues Update

Work has begun on the 2019 Mill & Overlay Project in the downtown area. The contractor has been removing the pedestrian ramps on the west sides of both East and West Avenues in the downtown area. The contractor will begin grading and replacing the ramps next week before work shifts over to the east sides of both streets. Access to the parks and buildings between West and East Avenues will be maintained using the east side of West Avenue until the work is completed on the west side of East Avenue.

Milling and paving operations are not currently scheduled but will likely occur sometime in early September.

We appreciate the cooperation and patience of neighbors, drivers, and pedestrians during this time of inconvenience. Motorists are encouraged to stay alert and drive carefully through all work zones. Thank you for your patience!
