Red Wing Fire Department Incident Number 191498
On Monday, May 20, 2019, at 09:57 a.m., the Red Wing Fire Department responded to a report of an activated fire alarm at 301 Main Street in Red Wing. Red Wing Fire Department arrived on scene at 09:59 a.m. Upon arrival, there was a large three-story commercial building that had no smoke or fire showing. Red Wing members made entry and found smoke in the rear of the store. The call was upgraded to a structure fire response. The business was open during the time of the call. The store was evacuated. The Fire Department established command and started to extinguish the fire. A search of the building was completed and no findings found. The fire was located in the basement. The fire was under control within 20 minutes after arrival. The fire was contained to the area of origin. Utilities were shut off. Smoke damage was noted on all floors of the fire building. The adjacent units were evacuated. No smoke or fire was noted in any other unit. There were no injuries reported on-scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Red Wing Fire Department responded to the scene with 3 Fire Engines, 3 Ambulances, 1 Ladder Truck, 1 Command Officer, and 2 auxiliary vehicles. There was a total of 40 firefighters on scene. Red Wing Fire Department was assisted on scene by Red Wing Police Department, Goodhue Fire Department with a Fire Engine, Ellsworth Fire Department with a Fire Engine, Lake City Fire Department with a Fire Engine, Miesville Fire Department with a Fire Engine, and Lake City with an Ambulance. Minnesota Department of Transportation assisted with partial road closure of Highway 61. Excel Energy assisted on scene. Goodhue County Dispatch assisted.
