Spring Flooding Update

(April 1, 2019, Red Wing, Minn.) – The City of Red Wing continues to monitor the rising flood waters of the Mississippi River and would like to share the following information.

The flood crest is now expected at 16.1', and we are presently at 15.7’. Barricades will remain in place and city staff will begin to reassess the road conditions next week. The Minnesota River continues to stay steady and is predicted to drop through the next 7 days. City staff continues to review their operation plans daily to make necessary preparations.


 Colvill Park is closed.
 Bay Point Park is closed.
 The parking lot by Bay Point Marina is closed.
 Levee Road is closed by Red Wing Grain, and from the boat harbor up to the roundabout.
 East Fifth Street by the entrance to Barn Bluff/He Mni Can is closed. Subsequently, there is no vehicle access to the Red Wing Conservation Club (Isaac Walton) or the Water Treatment Plant.

Please remember that it is dangerous and illegal to drive around barricades.

The City continues to have sand for bagging, free and available to residents at the lot at 2050 Levee Road. The lot can still be accessed by vehicles, regardless of partial road closures in that area.
