Every ten years since 1790, the U.S. Census Bureau conducts a nation-wide headcount. For the 2020 Census, it’s more important than ever that everyone in Red Wing and Goodhue County participate. Why is that? Not only is participation required by law, but the results of the 2020 Census will affect planning and funding for everything from infrastructure to education across the entire country--including right here in Red Wing. We count as Minnesotans and as Red Wing residents, so let’s make sure our voices are being heard.
How to Complete the Census
There are three ways to participate in the 2020 Census on April 1.
Households will begin receiving official Census Bureau mail in mid-March. Beginning in April, census takers will visit homes to conduct quality check interviews; in May, they will help collect responses. Follow this link to learn more about census takers.
