Hazardous Waste

Hazardous Waste can be described as waste that is chemically hazardous, physically hazardous or biologically hazardous. Household Hazardous Waste is considered left over household products that can catch fire, react or explode under certain circumstances, or are corrosive or toxic. Household Hazardous items include:

  • Ant/Rodent Killer, Flea Powder, Banned Pesticides
  • Any Spray Cans that are not completely empty
  • Asphalt and Roof Tar
  • Bleach, Ammonia, Cleaning Solvents, Spot Removers, Oven Cleaner
  • Drain Cleaner, Window Cleaner, Disinfectants, Septic Tank Cleaner
  • Garden Sprays and Dusts, Weed Killers
  • Lacquers, Stains, Varnishes, Wood Preservatives
  • Paint, Paint Thinners, Paint Stripper and Solvents
  • Rust Inhibitor or Remover
  • Waterproofers, Glues, and Cements
  • Waste Oil, Antifreeze, Battery Acid, Gasoline, Brake and Transmission Fluid

Goodhue County is responsible for the collection and disposal of Household Hazardous Waste. They offer several Household Hazardous Waste Collection days each year. Please contact Goodhue County at 651.385.3107 for additional information. Dates for 2023 to be announced.

These items are not accepted for disposal at the Solid Waste Campus. Residents are encouraged to contact Goodhue County at 651-385-3105, for information on how to properly dispose of these items.
