The Goodhue County Explorer Post 916 is a non-profit organization which was created as a way to educate our youth about the law enforcement community and criminal justice field. The Explorer program is a coed branch of the Boy Scouts of America, designed for young men and women between the ages of 15 through 20. The program gives the youth an opportunity to “explore” and receive valuable, hands-on, scenario-based training that directly correlates to the law enforcement profession.
The Goodhue County Explorer Post was chartered in December of 2016 and is committed to creating an inclusive mentorship program that promotes leadership and life skills while helping our youth achieve their full potential. The Goodhue County Explorer program is a joint program that includes advisors from four local agencies: the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office, the Red Wing Police Department, the Cannon Falls Police Department, and the Zumbrota Police Department.
Explorer Scenarios include:
Youth involved in the Explorer program also participate in community events in Goodhue County like Night to Unite, local parades, and ride along programs with member agencies. Explorers in the program also have the opportunity to compete in State and National Explorer competitions.
