"The volunteerism we see just in city government is a great indication that people in the community truly care about the quality of life here and are willing to invest their time and effort to contribute. Red Wing is really fortunate to have so many individuals in the community who are willing to commit their time and talents here."- City Council Administrator, Kay Kuhlmann.
Volunteers who serve on any one of the formal boards and commissions work to execute the City Council’s broad visions. In addition, there are many groups and individuals who volunteer their time to help with City functions, facilities, and events. There are also established groups of volunteers who help support the parks, Public Library, and the Sheldon Performing Arts Theatre.
Joining a board or commission is easy. One application form works for all of our boards and commissions. Applications are reviewed by the Mayor, who then recommends appointments to the boards and commission to the City Council. Once approved by the City Council, you can begin actively serving as a commission member.
Commission and board members must live within the city limits during their service on the advisory body unless otherwise noted.
Board members and commissioners are always needed.
The following information describes each of the formal boards and commissions of the City of Red Wing.
If you have questions or want more information about a specific group, please contact the staff liaisons listed for each commission.
