Residents Asked to Avoid Construction Areas Along Mississippi River

(May 30, 2019, Red Wing, Minn.) – Work in Levee Park and Vogel Harbor was suspended in March due to high water levels on the Mississippi River.  Construction will resume once the river levels have receded to acceptable levels.  Though work has temporarily stopped, the areas of Vogel Harbor and Levee Park remain construction zones, and the City of Red Wing would like to remind everyone that the park and parking lot are closed and should not be entered.  In Levee Park, the levee wall configuration has changed, and approaching the water’s edge could be life threating.

Conditions remain dangerous in these areas, and barricades are in place.  People visiting the riverfront should not enter these construction work zones or go around the barricades.

The Riverfront Trail between Levee Park and Vogel Harbor, Levee Park, and the Levee Park vehicle parking lot remain closed until conditions improve.  Motorists are encouraged to stay alert and drive carefully adjacent to all construction work zones.

Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring Red Wing’s construction areas remain safe during this high water season.
