City Announces Request for Proposals for the Friedrich Building
(April 26, 2019, Red Wing, Minn.) – The City of Red Wing announces that it is advertising a Request for Proposals for the Friedrich Building located at 1176 Oak Street, Red Wing, MN.
The Friedrich Building was built in 1924 as part of the City Hospital and was used for that purpose until the hospital closed in 1967. In 1968 the Goodhue County Historical Society moved into the adjacent former Old People’s Home and the Friedrich Building was leased by the city from 1971 until 2008 by various nonprofit organizations. The building has been vacant since 2008 and the city has been exploring reuses for the property since that time. The City worked with the Goodhue County Historical Society (GCHS) with their effort to determine if they had an interest in reusing the building. GCHS has since determined that they are not in a position to take the project on. The City has now determined that it is open to development proposals.
Schedule for the RFP is proposed as follows:
May 6, 2019, 10:30 AM Pre-proposal Site Visit at the Property
A site visit will be held on May 6, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., at the property. Attendance by interested respondents is highly recommended but not required.
June 14, 2019, 3 PM Deadline for Proposals, 3 p.m.
June 24, 2019 City Council will select a developer and proposal to conduct further negotiations or reject proposals
July/August 2019 Negotiation of Purchase Agreement/Development Agreement
